Marriage FAQs
Q. Who can get married at the Arya Samaj Mandir

Arya Samaj Mandir is the only religious institution allowed to conduct LEGAL Hindu Wedding under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. As long as you are Hindu, Jain, Sikh or Buddhist. The Certificate issued after the marriage is recognizable by the registrar of marriages as well as most government institutions and can be shown as proof.

Q. We are of different States/Caste/subCaste etc

Arya Samaj Mandir has been fighting the status quo of the society by conducting marriages for over 150 years. As long as you, as the couple, have the right intention we will help with the best of our ability

Q. Does Arya Samaj look into Muhurath and Horoscope before performing wedding?

No. Arya Samaj performs marriage as per Vedas and there is no mention of these in Vedas. We believe, for performing a good work, all times are good. However, the best Muhurat is the convenient time to maximum number of people invited for the wedding.

Q. What do I need to provide in terms of Documents

Head to the Mandir in Indiranagar, Meet our pandits and manager to collect a checklist and a numbered Marriage form (only available at our Mandir). Follow the instructions. Form collection after you’ve filled it out is done on Sunday Mornings (10 am to 1pm) and Most Wednesdays (5pm to pm). Please check with the manager when best to submit it. The format of affidavit is online under the forms section.

Q. Documents required?

The documents required at the time of registration are:

  1. Four Photos – Each of Bride and Bridegroom
  2. Residential address Proof – Current address proof required.
  3. Age proof certificate – Government issued Photo ID (passport/pan/aadhar/DL copies ideally)
  4. Affidavit – format available online as well as given by us along with the application and Checklist.
Q. I reside in another State/city and wish to come here to marry

We do not cater to marriages if either Bride and/or Groom are not presently living in Bangalore. The only exception being if their permanent address/Parents are living in Bangalore. We limit ourselves to Bangalore Jurisdiction.

Q. What is the time gap between the registration & solemnization of marriage?

Arya Samaj has got both ‘Social’ and ‘Legal’ responsibilities to check the validity of the alliance. Once the fees and forms are fully furnished and accepted, Arya Samaj serves on first come first basis after a 48 hour Wait period for any changes, then ceremony can be performed depending on the availability of the priest.

Q. Any venue restrictions?

The marriage can be solemnized at any venue of your choice within Bangalore. The cost of conveyance will be borne by the concerned party. Marriage can be performed in Arya Samaj premise also.  For this purpose contact our Manager on phone (2529-4918 or 2525-7756) to fix an appointment to inspect the available options to suit your requirement. This can be done while you submit the forms.

Q. I already have registered the marriage and have a certificate as proof, I still would like to conduct the ceremony as per the Vedic Way

That is an excellent intention; We conduct a ceremony that we term “Non Certificate Marriage”. All you need to do is submit a letter stating your intention copy of you Government Issued ID’s and a copy of your Marriage Certificate.

Q. I intend to register the marriage separately / we will register the marriage in the US/UK separately

Still an excellent intention. Similar to above, apply with a letter and also declaring in the letter that you understand that Arya Samaj will not issue a certificate and the onus is on you to register the marriage separately. If one of you is of a different religion, the venue of the marriage has to be neutral and our pandit will come there and conduct your ceremony.
